$ Oil...Shmoil! $

The economy is affected by many factors that determine if it is strong or weak.  These factors are determined by the rate at which buyers consume goods and services.   Are the goods and services that are consumed by people treated wealth, jobs and a better overall economy for a country?  Throughout history some economies have evolved faster and stronger than others.  Policies that the government places on industry, technology and the environment can all affect the prosperity of an economy.  One of the factors that affect economic growth is state oil and gas industry.
When evaluating the economic growth factor of economy, specifically oil and gas, one must consider the following questions:
What relationship does the factor have with the whole economy?
How does this factor affect economic growth?
Is the factor a cause or effect of economic growth?
What would the economy be like if there were significant problems with this factor?
What relation does a central bank have to this factor?

The current economy in the US today is greatly affected by oil and gas industry.  Instead of investing oil profits into the country's future (which is not very bright as of late), the leaders of this country used the money to make themselves rich, and left the country in political and economic disarray.  Instead, economies of this country is in a state of flux.  Alternative energy sources that could used to give the economy stability and allow for this country's GNP to grow in a slow, steady, and positive way.  Many windows of employment opportunity will open. Especially the middle class.  The building of a strong middle-class will allow for US to prosper for many years to come.  Investing in the growth of the solar and wind industries will create more job openings.  More jobs filled will result in a lower unemployment rate and a higher national per capita income.  Oil and gas are resources that can be depleted.  On the other hand,  the sun and wind are always available.  Maybe not at a constant rate, but they are more efficient and environmentally friendly!  Looking throughout history, there have been fluctuations in gas and oil prices you have vast fluctuations in the economy, not only the US but also other countries as well.

More About Hybrid Cars...What You Knew and Didn't Know

Hybrid cars are becoming increasingly popular due to the rising cost of gasoline and the move to save the environment.  Hybrid cars are being built to look like gas fueled cars.  Although Hybrid cars are not mainstream yet, in the future they will more than likely replace gas only fueled cars.  There are many cars on the market that uses hybrid technology: Toyota Pirus, Toyota Camry Hybrid, (Toyota has many), Nissan Altima Hybrid, Honda Civic Hybrid, BMW Hydrogen 7,  and the Ford Escape Hybrid.   This blog will focus on how hybrid cars work, why they are environmentally friendly, why they are more efficient than gas fueled cars, advantages and disadvantages of hybrid cars, and what a consumer should consider when buying a hybrid car.
According to "The Philly Wire: Hybrid Car," A "hybrid car" or hybrid electric vehicle" is a vehicle which relies not only on batteries but also on an internal combustion engine which drives a generator to provide the electricity and may also drive the wheels directly.  There are five types of hybrid automobiles: full hybrids, assist hybrids, plug-in hybrids, hydraulic hybrids, and mild hybrids.
Are you willing to sacrifice power for fuel efficiency?  Most hybrid cars are not that powerful.  Some hybrids are able to run solely on the electric motor until it reaches a threshold in which the gas engine kicks in, but that is still a huge progress!  Mild hybrids often use 48 V systems to supply the power needed for the startup motor, as well as to compensate for the increasing number of electronic accessories on modern vehicles.  This helps the owner by not having to buy new batteries.  Hybrid cars are A LOT more environmentally friendly than diesel fueled cars or leaded gasolines.

How fossil fuels harm our environment!

Fossil fuels have served as a reliable source of heat for cooking and warmth since the beginning of history.  Some of the common fossil fuels are coal, peat, lignite, petroleum, and natural gas.  They are used extensively as illuminant and fuel.  Gasoline, kerosene and fuel oil are made from petroleum.  Also the combustion of these fuels releases various pollutants, such as monoxide and sulfur dioxide, which pose health risks and contribute to acid rains and global warming.   As we all know crude oil is used mainly for transportation.  70% of US uses fossil fuels, but there are other alternatives people!  By taking advantage of other sources for example the sun, wind, falling water, plant matter, and heat from our earth, we can help prevent some of these horrible things that have been effecting our environment.  Energy planners expect a decrease in the environmental impact if we convert to these sources.

Term project for Media 2.0

This group is specifically for my Media 2.0 class. I am doing my project on if you haven't notice from the given title..."Alternative Energy Sources." Sorry I have a sarcastic sense of humor can't help it.:) I would really appreciate it if all you can put in a few words of wisdom on any of the topics above (e.g. hybrid cars, economy, fossil fuels, alternative fuels). Thanks a bunch! Happy Holidays!! :)
